1-2/10/10 - Deveron Arts and Scottish Sculpture Workshop Field Trip

Dundee Artists in Residence at Scottish Sculpture Workshop

For our next field trip we''ll be heading north once again, this time to Deveron Arts, Huntly, and the Scottish Sculpture Workshop, Lumsden.

On the evening of the 1st October we'll be participating in the 'International Networking, Mobility and the Environment' discussion. To quote from DA's press release, 'This discussion seeks to explore issues around international mobility in an era questing for environmental accountability. It seeks to generate new perspectives drawing on knowledge from the arenas of cultural economics, international networking, communication innovation and sustainable engagement on ways of realizing and activating a more constructive and productive future.'

Speakers and respondents are David Butler (Intersections), Sophie Hope (Birkbeck College), Tessa Jackson (Iniva), Adam Sutherland (Grizedale Art) and Jane Trowell, (Platform). (Sutherland and Trowell will be in conversation via skype.)

The following day we'll be invited to take part in a public event at Huntly's Famers Market to mark the culmination of Stéfanie Bourne’s 'Red Herring' residency. We'll also be invited to join the DA team for a guided walk of the Huntly Town Collection. This includes work by Roderick Buchanan, Dalziel + Scullion, and Hamish Fulton (among many others).

For lunch we'll be making our way to the Scottish Sculpture Workshop and joining them for the 'Expanded Fields' symposium. We'll hear from invited artists Nikolaj Oleynikov (of Chto Delat) and Jeanne van Heeswijk about their working methods, and from Nuno Sacramento, SSW's new Director, about new developments within SSW.

All in all, this will be a full, participative and rewarding programme!
