Ethos
Initiated as a form of social sculpture, D-AiR is committed to working in partnership with existing organisations, individual practitioners and transient collectives.
Our aim is to amplify the creative opportunities within Dundee by opening up spaces for dialogue and inclusion through an expanded concept of art.
Based upon the values of connective aesthetics and what Paulo Freire calls cultural action for freedom, D-AiR acts as a creative go-between, a dialogue partner and a site for collaborative action.
Our approach is imaginative, idiosyncratic and playful. Our terrain is the real world of socio-political and ecological challenges.
My intention [behind the concept, 'every human being is an artist'] was to get us to recognise the ability that is involved in every form of work, the ability of a nurse or the ability of a farmer for their creative potential, to see such possibility as part of an artistic task.
